Hi All, I realize my problem may sound like some others, but i read them all, and I think mine's slightly different. Still, I am looking for a solution. Problem is as follows:
Q9550 - 2.83ghz
Asus P5QL-Pro mobo
4GB DDR2 - 8500-1066mhz RAM-Corsair (CM2x2048-8500C5D)
1TB SATA hard drive
Nvidia 8800GT-vid card
Cooler master extreme 650W power supply
Windows Vista 64bit

My computer is stable when it boots. I can shutdown and reboot, or restart with no problem, as long as there is no long interval between shutdown and boot. The problem occurs when my computer is shut down or in sleep mode for a long period of time (overnight for instance). When i try to power up after a long off period, the power comes on, fans spin, but there is no beep, screen stays off, and it does not post. I let it run for a while to make sure Windows isnt booting in the background (which it doesnt). Sometimes, very rarely, if i sit around long enough and keep trying, hitting the reset button causes it to boot normally, no problems. Last time i tried this took over 2 hours, and 40 or so tries, so it is getting very annoying. So to summarize:
1) Very stable when running
2) when shut down for long period of time it will not post or go into BIOS
3) Hitting reset and waiting, hitting reset again it will eventually boot

Any suggestions?

Here is what I have done thus far.
1) Spoke with Corsair people, and got the timings right for my motherboard.

2) Settings in BIOS are as follows:
AI Overclock Tweaker

Configure System Performance Settings

Ai Overclock Tuner = Manual
CPU Ratio Setting = 8.5
FSB Frequency = 333
PCI-E Frequency = 100
FSB Strap to Northbridge = 333

DRAM Timing Control = Manual

DRAM Frequency = DDR2-1066
DRAM Command Rate = 2N
DRAM Timing Control = Manual
CAS# Latency = 5
RAS# to CAS# Delay = 5
RAS# PRE Time = 5
RAS# ACT Time = 15
Row Refresh Cycle Time (tRFC) = 60
Command Rate = 2T (2N)
All Else to Auto

DRAM Static Read Control = Auto
DRAM Read Training = Auto
Mem. OC Charger = Auto
AI Transaction Booster = Disabled
CPU Voltage = Auto
CPU PLL Voltage = Auto
FSB Termination Voltage = Auto
DRAM Voltage = 2.1v
NB Voltage = 1.20v (they recommended 1.23v but BIOS rounds to 1.3v which caused crashes, so i scaled back to 1.20v)
SB Voltage = Auto
PCI-E SATA Voltage = Auto

Loadline Calibration = Auto
CPU Spread Spectrum = Auto
PCIE Spread Spectrum = Auto
Clock Over-Charging Voltage = Auto
CPU GTL Voltage Reference = Auto
NB GTL Voltage Reference = Auto

3) I have the latest BIOS 0902, latest drivers for every piece of hardware

4) I don't know if this is relevant, but Windows Vista indicates that there is no driver detected for my Intel(R) ICH10 Family SMBus Controller -3A30, but in device manager, when i go to driver it shows 9.0.0.1005 and when i click on update driver it tells me that i have the most up to date driver. Just wondering if this can cause my problem? There have been instances when it is posting that it freezes at the Initiating USB Controllers phase... but other times it does not. Like i said, don't know if this is relvant.

Sorry for the novel, but I will list out the questions below, i would really appreciate an answer to each, even if it is "I don't know', because I have been to other forums already, and they tend to skip some of my questions. See below:

1) Any suggestions on why my computer won't post when booting after a long period of shutdown? See very top for details.

2) Do my settings for BIOS look correct?

3) Does the SMBus controller issue have anything to do with this?

I appreciate any help given.
