INstalling Win7 on Crucial SSD

HI,

I tried to install win 7 64x (clean install) on a Crucial C300 128MB SSD. Win seemed to install but when I go to boot up I get a black blank screen and nothing happens. What is wrong??

Driver for the Controller installed? Selected right boot drive? Newest bios? Checked bios options for controller? Firmware update check on SSD?

I have win 7 installed on a HDD but I dosconnected that drive and lefy only the SSD connected and installed on the SSD.

Doesn't win 7 install video drivers??

Before, or after you installed Windows on the SSD? Windows won't install the AHCI drivers unless the controller is already set to AHCI mode in BIOS at the time of installation.

You'll want to set this back to IDE to boot up and install the drivers manually (which is a bit of a pain but not impossible), or just reinstall Windows again from scratch with the AHCI mode already set.

If I realized that installing an SSD would nt be strightorward I would have never bought one!

wouldnt be a gigabyte board by any chance?

i never could install windows on my jmicron controller and have hear of people with the same problem on the marvell controller--as soon as i put the hard drives onto the intel controller it went perfectly

so i would try connecting to the other controller--mine were blue and white so easy to see which are the other controller

No Its an Asus board P7P55D E-pro

fair enough--though i would still try it on the other controller especially if its an intel controller--found them much more stable

This is a SATA 3 SSD so on the "other" controller I wold not get the higher speer of 6Gb/s

i realise that--but it would rule out a problem with your ssd--if it boots then update all drivers for the marvell controller and the connect it to the marvell port and see if it boots
