Frag Box/Lan Box

Hi fellow computer addicts. Im getting around to building a frag box since I tired of lugging my home rig around for these lan parties.

Here is what i've gathered after some research. I'd like to invite any criticism and advice. I am limited by my budget $700. I will get OS for free: Vista 64-bit, and free processor E6400 http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL9S9

this amounts to roughly $650. the rest I planned to spend on dvd r/w ~$25 and custom cpu cooler ~25.

you're right. I was just trying to cut some costs. i guess getting a respectable psu for $30 bucks more is worth it

I built a Lan box for my friend for about 600 back at the first of the year

It was a 690G AMD mobo with a x2 6000+

4gb of Gskill RAm

a 160gb HDD

And a HD 3850

That was a year ago for 600.

Now that same build would be around 350

I say up the video card

And im looking at the 300gb VR HDD too.

If you gett the 4850 you get to turn on AA too.

Thanks a lot for your advice guys I really appreciate it. Keep it coming.
I will probably make those adjustements Colegade. I would like a better GPU but I have to stay in the budget. Also i thought that 4 sticks of memory will work better than 2, that whole "2 hands better than one" bit.
Also should I be concerned at all with the size of the GPU? Afterall these recent ones tend be be a bit large


And I am looking at first doing some co-op in CoD5 with my buddies, gecoar.
