Notebook does not taking the bootable cd

i have one xp bootable cd.but when i trying to open that cd by using w.e it says no file.why it happens

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

A bootable XP CD is designed to start the computer without using teh Operating System and your BIOS needs to be set to bnoot from CD first. You can see the contents of the disk by right clicking it in My Computer and going to Explore but what exactly are you trying to do?
