building gaming pc do these parts work well together

this is my first build and i need to know if these are the parts i should order. i'm primarily going to use this pc for gaming although i do also use photoshop a fair bit and i plan to run premier because i will also be doing a bit of video editing. obviously for that reason i need a firewire to use my video camera. i will be running this system on XP.

i'm thinking of using a quad processor because even when i play games i usually run other programs, itunes downloading RSS feeds, bitlord (torrents), and sometimes MSN. thats myreasoning for a quad core.

I chose 2 cases simply because my first choice the antec 900 in out of stock on newegg and so by the time its back in stock the sale will likely be over. however if it is a better fit i'll still stick with it.

here are the parts i chose in no particular order please comment on any or all.

memory: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231122

video card:HIS Hightech H487F512P Radeon HD 4870 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161236

Case:Antec Nine Hundred http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021&Tpk=antec%20900 or i'm also considering the COOLER MASTER Mystique http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119129

PUS:Antec EA650 650W http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015

DVD/CD burner: SAMSUNG Black http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151171

For my use of photoshop i tend to use files off of SD and other memory cards for that reason i would also like to add a memory card reader http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015

i'm away from the Ethernet cable but i do have access to wireless and so i also need a wireless card: EDIMAX EW-7128G http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833315041

any help you can give would be nice. thank you in advance.

More about building gaming parts work together
  1. looks solid to me. nice choices all around. are you planning on overclocking?
  2. Consider this CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX for your psu (just bought one myself). It's 80+ & PFC and $25 cheaper up front and $55 less after rebate. If it were modular it would be perfect.
  3. Mem - good choice, this would be better:

Video - I own this card. Better cooled, can be very quiet if you leave the OC alone and nudge down the fan. The best 4870 made.

MB - It's a good choice but also consider:

I'm an ASUS fan but this board is full of win.

The CM case may be pretty, but the airflow is lousy compared to the Antec.

  4. i'm planing on possibly overclocking my processor assuming i have a program that is getting much slowdown.
  5. Yeah the Gigabyte UD3P will be the better overclocker by a small amount. In my parts list above you'll see a few CPU cooler suggestions.
