Question overclocking Q6600 on Gigabyte UD3R

Hello,
I just used Easy Tune 6 to OC my Q6600 to 3.2 GHz. The only problem I see is that after I booted up and opened up everest it constantly switches from 3.2 GHz and 2.4 Ghz. The only other thing that changes is the multiplier which switches between 6x and 8x. I have went into the Bios and it says that I am running at 3.2 Ghz. So, my question is, am I running at 3.2 Ghz or 2.4 Ghz. Thank you.

Chances are its the power saving feature from Intel. When your CPU is not under load it down clocks it to save power. You can turn this off in the BIOS. Turning it off just wastes power though.

It is SpeedStep. The X6 multiplier is the give away. And look at it this way: it is now throttling back to what was the original top speed.
