He says, his will preform better because its made for PCI express 1.1, and mine will lose performance due to it not being on a PCI express 2.0 slot. Is he correct that his will preform more efficent then on my system. Since my card is 2.0, I say no. I dont think that the 4850 uses the bandwidth edge of 2.0.
2.0 card, when work on a 1.1 bus, the data transfer rate is same as 1.1
How can your card be slower when your data rate is the same as his, LOL.
The card hardly use 1.1 bandwidth, and I'll say this again. Once the card starts real time rendering, you won't want it to be busy transfering texture in and out of the card anyway, so it doesn't matter how fast the bus is, once real time rendering starts, you stop utilizing the bus.
yes +1 to that... the GTX should be gen 2.0 anyway! the 8800GT is...
none of those sort of cards fully saturate the x16 gen 1.1 slot... i think only high performance X2 cards and maybe the GTX 280 would need 2.0 to get its full benefit.
although you won't see any performance change as such from 1.1 to 2.0, 2.0 DOES double the amount of watts available through the slot, which MIGHT improve overclockability...
