Hi, my core duo e6850 is supposed to run at 3 ghz but on Cpu-Z and Nvidia's System Monitor it shows that the cpu multiplier is switching between 6x and 9x and thus the speed is mostly at 2 ghz and not 3. Is this normal? I have an Evga 780 sli ftw mainboard all at default and no ocing.

Look for an entry in the BIOS (probably in "Advanced Features") referring to EIST to turn it off if you wish.

Or use CPUZ to watch your CPU go to full speed as you run something that needs a lot of processor cycles to run.

Ok, the problem was that C1E was enabled. Thanks for the help, I probably should have been more observant when searching the forums as there was a sticky about this problem right above my post :D .
