CPU upgrade for G965

current pc -

CPU: Intel Pentium D 830 (3.0 GHZ, 800 FSB, 2MB Cache)
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-965GM-DS2 (rev. 2.0)
RAM: 2 x 1 GB DDR2 667
GPU: ASUS EAH4670/HTP/512MD3
PSU: 400 Watt
Sound: Onboard
OS: Win XP SP2


my demand -

1. run mysql
2. occasional gaming (I'll describe later)
3. do various things


occasionally i want to play the latest and upcoming first person and third person titles in the following settings -

1. Resolution turned to 1024x768 (and even in 800x600)
2. All details turned to medium (and even in low)
3. Turning Anti-Aliasing off
4. Turning V-Sync off
5. In DX9 mode
6. A.I. and Sound Quality to max.


my questions -


1. Do I need to upgrade the CPU ? If so then to which one ?
C2D E4300/E4400/E4500/E6300/E6320/E6400/E6420/E6600/E6700 ???

My g965 does not support 1333 FSB and 45nm CPU's. Plus, I do not want to OC my CPU.


2. Do I need more than 2GB of RAM ? I'll upgrade to DDR2 800 when I'll get a 1066 FSB CPU

I would check anandtech's for sale forum for used cpus. The 6400 was around $80 last time someone had one for sale.

Well according to gigabyte's website if you've got the latest BIOS then you can get any CPU as long as it's not a 45nm. Well, their are a few 65nm that you can't run on it but most of them can. Just google the name of your mobo and click on the first link and then go into CPU support list.
