i now have a ahtlon x2 5000 at 3.1ghz..and a ati hd 4870..mobo msi k9a2 cf v.2, and my psu is a ultra ls600 600watt..will this cpu help me play gta 4 better than with the cpu 5000+? and will it boost my dvd decoding and all that good stuff>?

I am not a gamer so I don't know about that but I do know you will see a definite improvement with dvd encoding.

Well GTAIV is quad optimized so you will see an improvement because of the extra core, however you may want to take the clock to 3.3ghz if your using an aftermarket cooler.

yea i have an aftermarket cooler..its a big coolermaster that fans the heatsink towards the back.

Should help. The AM3's are slightly faster than the athlon x2's at the same clockspeed, and it'll overclock significantly higher, so a 3Ghz+ overclock will give you roughly the same 2 core performance, but with an extra core for GTA4 and others.

hopefully it helps..it has 6mb plus an overclock think it will feel faster than my cpu right now?

Any software that is quad optimized, the extra core will definitely help. If you OC you will definitely have a noticeable difference in day to day tasks.

Yeah its a Phenom II so it's actually quite a beast.
