I am looking to upgrade my video card and have done some searching around. Im thinking of going with the APG GeForce 6800GT, I think It will fit my needs. The most power I would need out of it is to play Warcraft. Ive looked around and it is supposed to run fine on my 300W power supply and should work well with my P4 Hyper-thread. I figure I should still be able to add another 512 MB RAM and still not have to change my power supply. My biggest question is will the AGP Geforce 6800GT work with my Windows XP Home Edition? every where I look says it is speced for XP Pro or Vista. This is an older card and I would think it would run on my Windows XP home Edition, but will it?

It will work with XP Home Edition. The latest driver set to work with this card and XP is, I believe, 178.24. But, expect to play at lower resolutions and little or no candy, on smaller monitors. Wow, with the latest revision, has become more resource-hungry which may not bode well for your 6800GT.

The X1650XT would be a good choice, the X1600pro was about the same as a 6600GT and the X1650pro wasn't much better. I don't think they make them anymore though.

If you go with the 3850, make sure you could have your money back: many older systems have problems with ATI driver and AGP bus. Mine was a problem (Nforce 2). So I change the video card for NVidia 7800 GS and I never got any drivers problems. I can play all new games without a glitch. Very happy.

Enjoy.
