For the new computer I'm building I'm looking for the best video card for my price range. I'm currently looking at getting 2 ATI Radeon HD 4870. Is there anything in it's price range (around $400 total) that can beat it out?

Is there a single graphics card that would be worth buying over dual 4870s and then just add the second one later down the road?

What do you guys think?

nice rig!

with that rig, you might as well go with the GTX280. The 4870 is best bang for your buck, but the GTX beats 4870 in CF in almost every benchie. It also gives you room for SLI later.

Scroll down around half way and look at the charts. Those charts show the 4870 in crossfire to be better than the single GTX 280 in almost all of the benchmarks.

I won't be getting dual GTX 280s in the future so keep that in mind. If I was going to spend that amount of money I'd get dual 4870X2s.

So should I go with the 4870s?

look at the charts i posted earlier. I agree the 4870 is the best card per dollar spent. but a single GTX280 is as good as 2-4870s in CF.

>>>>you asked for a single card solution under $400.<<<< :pt1cable:

The best single card under $400 is a GTX280.

next time dont ask if you dont want an answer.

I personally would stay ATI. At the moment ATI is creating very good tech for a better price.

you should look at toms charts. next time google this easy to find crap yourself.

With the games you gonna play, your system is overkill anyways.

troll!
