Help? Sims 2. Cheat console wont show

i tried pressing the buttons all at once and in turn. in all the modes
of the game but nothing ever shows up. I dont get what i am doing wrong.
i have tried reinstalling but it still does not work.
i have the DVD version of the game.
does any one know how to fix this? please help this is driving me mad!

I don't know if this will fix it,but have you tried holding
ctrl,shift,and c?I thought you were supposed to hold them,but I may be
wrong.

If you have something like ICQ running in the background it won't work.
I'd have a look and see what you have dormant on your machine if I were
you (use Task Manager in Windows, for instance, and close anything that
isn't The Sims 2).
