Just to get this straight does the phenom II x3 720 will only work on a AM3 mobo or can it be on a reggie am2+? i plan on getting me the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813128378 unless there are mobos that are cheaper and support the phenom II am3.

It'll work on AM2+ mobos but you'll probably need a BIOS update first.

1.It works on AM+, see this link, it´s the best what i have seen for long time.

2. Keep an eye on the manufacturers homepage, to see if your mainboard can handle the upgrade or not.

It will work on most AM2+, but you may need to do the bios update with the old processor first.
