every game I've played I get this message. Call of duty 5 I get this message about 5 times every 3 to 5 hours. Far cry 2 I've gotten it twice. Rome total war 3-5 times every 6 hours, though some days it constantly crashes some days I don't see it at all. Supreme commander just happened 3 times in 5 mins and I got a grey-ish screen and it crashes when I try to play skirmish. I have 8.11 drivers. e8400, P5Q Pro with a 600 Watt PSU OCZ. What's going on? I'm not overclocking or anything.

I'm getting it too, a lot of people are. There's no solution for the prob.

Although you might want to check the temps of your videocard.

Let me guess, you are using Vista?

win XP SP2 (most likely 32 bit but not 100% sure). With Far cry 2 I played in windowed mode while I was looking at ATI overdrive and temps were around 53°C.

Hmm okay, that seems normal.

Only thing I can think of right now is either a faulty card or PSU.
You could try removing all the videocard drivers using driversweeper or any of those programs, then put a fresh new one on it.

if it not yous PSU problem(maybe u have good PSU) then u've got the bad card.i read alot of people using 4850 with good psu suffering this problem.it's also a common problem for ol' 1950pro.i assume ATI don't make their chips for cards precisely, so sometimes its better, sometimes it bad.but it's normal in electronic industry

I have the same problem.... I also have p5q pro, hd4850. The VPU recover problem occurs even if I'm just browsing through my files. I can't really figure out what or when it decides to do so, it almost seems arbitrary.

Anyway... I sent the card in once already, i suppose they replaced it, but nothing's changed... What can I do? I have a Antec 900 case and it keeps everything real cool... so what's going on?
