Hi all,

I'm getting ready to make some upgrades to my PC and just wanted to get soem validation from the pros that I'm not doing anythign stupid or not getting the most bang for my buck. I've got roughly $800-$900 to upgrade my CPU/mobo/RAM.

What I have now:

AMD Athlon 64 4000+ 2.4GHz
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard
2GB OCZ Gold Series DDR 400 Dual Channel SDRAM
E-VGA 9800 GTX+ Video Card (just got a month ago)
Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Gamer Sound Card
Two - WD 75GB 10,000 RPM Raptor SATA Hard Drives
One - WD 350GB 7200 RPM SATA2 Internal Hard Drive
One - Seagate 7200 RPM External USB Hard Drive
Logitech Cordless Mouse
MS Keyboard
Netowrk Card
Silverstone Zeus 650W PSU
Silverstone SST-TJ07 Case

What I am considering for my purchase:

Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920 - Retail ($299 at New Egg)

EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail ($299 at New Egg)

CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1333C9 - Retail ($225 at New Egg)

I also plan to pick up a copy of Vista Home Premium 64 bit but that's not included in my budget for these upgrades.

One of my concerns is if my PSU is adequate for this setup. I would think that it is but I am a little unclear as to the specific requirements of my new 9800 GTX+ as well as understanding that the i7 uses 130W.

The PC is used mainly for gaming.

I have never been an overclocker so that is not of the utmost concern however, I must say that I've been curious to try it of late. I understand that the above components are very OC friendly and make doing so fairly easy.

Thanks in advance for any feedback/suggestions you may be able to give me.

Any advice on this? My biggest apprehension right now is that my PSU is not sufficient to adequately power my new setup. I've checked a number of online PSU calculators but they all seem quite outdated and do not list the i7 or newer video cards. Thanks in advance for the help

Everything is fine.

Your PSU should be fine if its under 2 years old otherwise I would highly recommend considering something along the lines a 750watt replacement.

Yes, gonna throw them into my wife's PC and upgrade her as well that way. The only thing I think I'll need is a beefier PSU. Hers is currently 450W.
