Friewire to USB card Gateway Laptop

I just purchased a IEEE 1394 cardbus ( Video to USB) for my Gateway MT 6728. Surprise! the PC card will not fit in the cardslot- there is some appendage inside the card slot ( little aluminum square) The outside dimensions are correct, but inside, there is "stuff" in the way. IS the Gateway MT 6728 supposed to have a PCMCIA slot or is this designed for some other device?
