I have formatted my pc but not formatted a drive how to see the data

I have formatted C drive in my pc and installed OS but did not touch the D drive. Now once the installation is done, I am not able to open the D drive. It asks me to format it. I have dta in D drive and want to get it back.

Go in control panel/administrative tools/computer management/disk management.Can you see that partition in there?
If yes, right click on it and select "change drive letter and paths" and select "change" then select to change to an unallocated letter.
Mosox, you have just added a tool to my toolbox. My usual response to being asked to format a drive is to assume that the partition table was corrupted and reach for recovery tools.
