Hi I've been browsing the forums and many like them for a while to try and decided which if any is a good upgrade to my EVGA 8800GTS 320MB SuperOCed gcard. I'm asking for people advice and suggestions on which would suit me best and give me the biggest performance boost. The reason I'm thinking about upgrading is mainly because I recently got GTA IV and its very intensive on VRAM and the 320MB cant quite cut it, also I brought a new 20' as a secondary monitor, and this at times stretch my card. Below are my current specs:

CPU: Q6600 @ 2.4GHz
Mobo: Asus P5K Deluxe (no SLI)
RAM: 4GB
Video Card: 8800GTS 320MB OCed
Monitor 1 @ 1280 x 1024
Monitor 2 @ 1680 x 1050

Think thats all the main bits. My Budget is around £150 which is just over $200

The main ones ive been looking at are the:

ATI HD450 Series
GeForce 9800GT

Thanks in advance.

My GTX260 is much, much better than my 640 card. I think you'd be throwing money away on either of those cards you listed.

I also looked at the GTX260's but there almost 60£ ~100$ over my current budget, so will the performance increase to a less powerful card (like the ones in my first post) be negligible compared to just getting a more high end card like the GTX260 or maby a 1GB HD470?

Thanks.

The little bit of what you MIGHT gain from buying either of those cards doesn't justify the expense. If you can't make a big enough improvement SAVE your money until you can. You'll be glad you did in the long run.

See here;

It`s generally reguarded that a move up of 2 tiers is a minimum to make the purchase worthwhile.

I advise you to follow SWIFTY_MORGANs` advice, hard as it is to wait and save! You really will reap a greater reward with the GTX260/HD4870 upgrade.

Thanks to everyone for their advice and I think that im going to take it and get a HD470 or i might wait for a bit for Nvidia to release their new cards and see if the price of the 260's come down.

Thanks
