Older P4 775 upgrade?

My father in law has a P4 3.0Ghz machine... we think it needs some upgrading...
As it's a 775 chip, can we upgrade to a Duo/Quad chip or are we stuck with a p4 type?
The MB is an MSI 945P Neo type deal, no worries if it can't happen, just don't want to upgrade the chip/ram and find out it's useless.

Im afraid your motherboard does not support any of the CPU's in the C2D range - the best you can hope for is a Pentium D series chip - but to be honest they arent that great.
