Just wondering because i got hold of one. I was wondering if the Yorkfiled qx9750 will be much of a leap over my current Kentsfield QX6700.

I heard that the qx9750 is a toned down version of the qx9770 but never made it to the public market?

If you know about this chip i'd like to hear from ya.

Thanks

Splendid
I thought the QX9750 was essentially a 9770 but for standard LGA775.

Just looked, and it was the 9775 that ran in an LGA771.

Did the 9750 have a higher clock speed than the 9650 but not need the 1600FSB of the 9770?

Unless my memory is failing me it was a 3.2 Penryn. the difference, I thought, was that it had a FSB of 1600 vs the 1333 of the rest of the pack. Truthful, it seems like a ridiculously frivolous chip when it came out, and is almost pointless CPU to buy new in the i7 days.

9650: 3.0 FSB 1333
9770: 3.2 FSB 1333
9750 3.2 FSB 1600

Lucky me that i got it for free and since it works in my current motherborad, it is not pointless.

I've never heard of the 9750, but if it exists, you have that backwards. The 9770 (and 9775) were 1600FSB, 8x mult for 3.2GHz.

Considering it isn't on the Intel site though, I'd be curious to see a CPU-Z screenshot or something like that, just to see what the specs are.

yeah it does exist. they tried to make it a 9770 but it didnt quite make it there so they toned it down a hair and called it the 9750. it was never released to the public. only internal to intel

You work for Intel right? Chip loaner? That chip never made public release due to yields not meeting sufficient quantity for mass consumption. Yes, it will be better than your QX6700 especially with 12MB cache. But you'll probably need to get a new mobo for it since older Core 2 boards wont support it. I was bout to build a rig with my QX9750 but then decided to just scrap the project and move forward with Core i7 since basically I will be basically purchasing all new components anyways. I do a lot of HD video editing, so Core i7 is the better choice.

Hi all,

Just for post a screen from cpu-z of my QX9750. It's a very good chip !

I think that it is not the lowest voltage ...

What's your point? Every CPU that is on the shelves now has ES's floating around somewhere. In the case of the QX9750 he couldn't have got a retail chip at all though.

Who would buy an ES anyway ??

Spintel give them out ... to the right people.

Most have some minor faults and have been caned out more that a car in Fast and The Furious ...

I tried to get back on their Christmas Card list but 4 good posts just doesn't count against the other 1000 or so where I vented and puked at them.

AMD sent me a free one tho ... with belgium chocolates.

Sorry AFG ... he hheh
