Can i run two Makes of ram?

Hi there i am running GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 and have just bought OCZ 4GB PC2-6400 ReaperX HPC Performance (2x2GB) CL 5-4-4-15 (EPP)


Will these run together?

slot 1 = OCZ 2gb
slot 2 = Geil 1GB
slot 3 = OCZ 2gb
slot 4 = Geil 1GB

They are both PC2 6400 but i think they may differ slightly on timings.

I am a total noob so as much help here please as possible

potentially. you'll probably need to relax the latencies to the slower RAM. Check voltages also. I run 2 different generations of RAM at a voltage in between their ratings and they both run up to spec.

they'll work together but you must use the timings for the slowest one eg. if one is 4-5-5-15 and the other 5-4-5-13, you should use 5-5-5-15. and set the voltage to the highest of the two

The PC would get itslef in a twist trying to do this.

Change the settings in the BIOS (press f1 or similar on boot)

I've always been told it's a really bad idea to mix ram chips. You better off just running the 2 OCZ chips for 4Gb of Ram.
