Phenom II with DDR3 PC1600 Question

Forum Motherboards & Memory : Memory Phenom II with DDR3 PC1600 Question

I have learned that Phenom II AM3 CPU can handle at max 1333 speed for ram.

I ordered a MSI AM3 Mother board that only supports Phenom II CPU and it supports DDR3 PC1600 Ram.

My question is If a Phenom II can only handle speeds of 1333 then why does a motherboard that only supports Phenom II supports DDR3 PC1600?

Will I have to enter my bios and change settings to slow the ram down? or do you think the bios will do this automaticly.

Motherboard: MSI 790GX-G65 AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 810 2.6GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 4MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Processor
Memory: mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

The Phenom II socket AM3 can be set to DDR3-1600, though it's not officially sanctioned. The board will support it if forced to (manual settings), but will otherwise automatically drop the speed to DDR3-1333 to comply with AMD's specifications.

Getting the AM3 to run stably at DDR3-1600 memory speed can be difficult, so good luck! Because of that difficulty, motherboards default to DDR3-1333.
