I lost the properties to my music files How do I retrieve them

I lost the properties to all of my music files. They just switched on a dime. Yesterday I could access all of my files and change the properties, if necessary. Now all I can access is the track info and subject. WHAT HAPPENED? I have no idea but I've tried just about everything except system recovery. Which I am about to do. Perhaps I need to completely clear out my computer. I don't know....I'm very frustrated!!!

Did you install software that hijacks filetypes to be opened/controlled ?
That would be the only reason I can think of, otherwise go to windows explorer, right click a music file, select open with, select choose from list, click always open file with this program, select your wanted music player.
Track info and such is best modified using your music player/organizer.
