don't want to sound stupid, but how would I be able to tell if they are physical. where would I find that info.
thanks for your help and quick response.
When you boot the computer the bios will indicate what drives it finds. This goes by pretty quickly so you might not see it. You can go to control panel and then hardware manager and find out what drives it sees, or you can right click on my computer, pick manage, then storage. Or you can open the case and count them.
If you have one drive and it contains C: and D: partitions, there are ways to combine them into one partition. If you have 2 drives, one being C: and one being D:, then you can't change it.
(c) drive partition basic 4.30 GB ( d) drive partition basic 94.98 GB. how do I extend volume from D drive to C drive.
It is one drive. what is the next step. thanks.
then within knoppix, you will need to find a program called gpartED. within the program itself, there are selections on the left side, they are not normal windows like selections, so you will have to find the one that is your hard drive. should be easy enough, just look for a bar with 2 colors on the right. you will have a selection to manually adjust the partition.
all you have to do is move the smaller of the colored blocks to cover the other, but beware, if you have anything on D:, it will be erased. then after you are done resizing, there is a selection within the gpartED menu to finallize the new partitioning.
