When i plan on buying my new computer im am looking at the E8400. I really would like an i7 but i really dont think i need a quadcore when i can get this and just overclock it to a goal of about 4.0ghz. This will be a gaming computer. mainly WoW, and sc2 and diablo 3 when they come out.

My build:

Purchased already:

Antec 900
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
PC Power & Cooling 750W
Asus 21.5" HDMI monitor

Plan on getting soon:
E8400
Gigabyte P45
Mushkin 4gb DDR2 1066
WD Caviar Black 640gb
64 bit Vista
Cooler Master V8
GTX 295

I chose the GTX 295 because i wanted the fastest single GPU available. So I figured Id cut back from i7 since i was getting that (budget reasons)

With all this said I'd like to know if going with the E8400 is my best bet. Again I do plan on overclocking so please take this all into consideration and any advice/comments/suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Jt

Read this article. E8400 + GTX295 is plenty for those games you are playing, plan to play.

My E8500 went to 5Ghz on a basic watercooling setup. The C2D is not a bad choice at all
