Alright, so heres the deal, I already have a bunch of parts, but i still need to choose what to get for the main components. I have 2 ideas, but I dont know which to choose.

idea 1)

core i7 920 ($295)
Gigabyte x58 ($300)
gtx 260 core 216 sli (470ish)
pc power and cooling 750w psu (100)
3 gb of ocz ram 1600 (125ish)

or

idea 2)
core i7 920 ($295)
possibly a different mobo??/
radeon 4870x2 (470ish as well)
pc power and cooling 750w psu (100)
3 gb of ocz ram 1600 (125ish)

Im really torn between the 4870x2 and gtx 260 core 216 sli, they are about the same price but which would really be better. My monitor is a 24" sceptre with a 1920 by 1200 resolution if that helps at all.

Please i dont know what to pick and im ordering this very soon, i need some suggestions.

If you can live with one gfx card dell has a Core i7 920 system at $940... Smokin deal for core i7

you could get a p45 and a Q9300 for the price of that mobo.

I'd get the cheaper Gigabyte motherboard that doesn't support SLI since any that do support it have a premium to pay.

If you want to Crossfire two 4870x2's I'd get an Antec Quattro 1000W PSU. Corsair has a good 1000W PSU as well but it's pricey, Antec's is good and more affordable. I wouldn't run two 4870x2's or two GTX260's on only 750W (even if it PCP&C); more headroom = longer life, less heat, more efficient, less noise.

I also agree with going with 6GB of RAM.

I like 3GB of ram or do 4gb dual channel
