Gen 1 or Gen 2 PCIe

How do i know if I have a gen 1 or gen 2 PCIe card slot. Does it matter for a new graphics card.

I would look up the specs of my motherboard on the internet. I read somewhere that the difference between PCI-E x16 and PCI-E x16 2.0 is minimal in real world benchmarks.

If you tell us what mobo you have we can give you the answer.

Though I have to add that the card will work in either way and you won't lose much performance at this time if you miss match.
