I just built a computer.This is what i have
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield
4 gigs of ram
on board video
on board lan
on board sound
biostar mb GF7050V-M7-SE

I am pretty computer literate i have done all i know to solve this problem and i am still getting the BSOD...
Is it Vista?
I am running on min programs trying to pinpoint the problem
I even got the BSOD in safe mode..
I updated the bios and all drivers even ran heat test on cpu
Any idea's out there?

Show us the BSOD error code you're getting, it's REAL EASY to Google the problem...How can you heat test and update drivers while getting a blue screen?

Memtest86, double check ram volts and timings.

If its 2.1v ram and its on auto its only getting 1.8 and it probably dont like it.

Temps?

Oh, and your computer literate? "Pentium" quad 2 core? No such thing.

I have a biostar very close to your board that has a via chipset instead of the nvidia one.
I got all kinds of bsod's with the sound turned on.
With the sound turned off it was ok.
I used an old SB Live card and the problem went away completely.
Now with a bsod in safe mode I might look at so other problem, like the ram voltage and or timings. Just for grins, see what happens when you only use one stick of ram.

I do appreciate the ones in here that are trying to help but why kick someone when they are down?

The message i get is that it is emptying the physical memory. Its minidump error or something to that effect i will check it next time i get it again..

+1 on running memtest86+ and checking the RAM timings/voltage. You really need to post the full specs of your RAM for us to be able to help. In fact, the full specs on all your hardware would make it a lot easier to troubleshoot.

Well, one major cause of concern is that the motherboard does not support the Q9550. Here's a link to the CPU support page for that board:

You may be SOL. I don't think it has anything to do with Vista. A lot of people, including myself, run 64-bit Vista without any problems at all.

Edit: I don't see any Crucial RAM on the supported RAM list either.

I purchased this barebones from http://www.portatech.com/25351/Pro [...] el_CPU.htm
i emailed them personally to see if it would work just to make sure and they said it would but now i looked at what you showed me and it doesnt.

Reply to skgibson

I got a hold of portatech and they want me to send it back.So we will see
But they sware that it should support the CPU and i told them that the MOBO site says it wont.So we will see what happens..I have to Box this up and setup my old computer so i will be back.....Thanks shortstuff_mt i didnt even think to look up to see if the Mobo supported what i have...I assummed they knew what they was talking about.A Lesson well learn't
