I have a custom built pc that I am working on for a friend.
Specs are...
EVGA 780i ftw
dual 9500gt
Windows Vista 32bit premium
Aparently shortly after he bought the PC he felt that he needed to reformat the hard drive. Upon reinstalling vista he found that he was unable to use areo, and play some of the games he was able to before. So now its in my hands... The first thing I did was to check the device manager to see if vista was even recognizeing the video cards. There is not even a Display Adapter recognized.
I proceded to use the add new hardware wizard to serch for the video cards with no luck.... I have also tried dl'ing and installing the drivers direct from nvidia's web site but am told when I try to install them that no compatable device can be found. No suprise really... I have tried taking the cards out of sli and useing each one indavidualy in PIC E slot 1, to no avail.
I inquiered as to weather or not he had flashed the bios, he says he has not. I serched a bit for updated bios for this model of board but came up empty handed.
On a side note, this may or may not be related. Under the device manager I did find that the "PCI Express Root Hub" was not functioning because of an error (12).

Ok, so let me get this straight, he's running sli on these cards? First thing to try then, take one card out, reinstall windows with only only card in the primary slot, then once windows is in, try to add sli back into the mix and see if that solves it.

Do you really think that I would need to reinstall windows? I dont have a problem doing that and he says that he has every thing backed up. I made a bit of an error in my original post... The video cards are DUAL 9500gt not 7500gt as I had originaly noted.
I mean you can play with it, but sometimes it's easier to do that than just sit there and mess with it. But if you don't want to do that, try this first, uninstall both cards from device manager, shut down, pull the card from the second pci e slot, then try to reinstall the drivers for the one single card, then if that works, try readding sli.
Also, why sli on 9500gt's? Just curious. A single 9600gt or 9800gt would probably perform better and not give the fits. If he would be interested in that, your friend might be able to get some $$ for the the 9500's on ebay or craigslist.

Honestly, did you even read my first post or did you just read the title..? The cards do not even show up in device manager. What the hell... I will give reformatting a shot.
As far as why he chose dual 9500's, I have not a clue. Some douche at a mom and pop computer store probably told him that was a good option. I tried explaining to him how a single higher end card is always better then dual lower end cards but he would not listen.
