GPU Temperature

hi,

I got zotac 9600gt 1gb synergy edition,
i oc'd it to 650mhz processor/1800mhz ram/1650mhz shader default is 600/1600/1500 while overclocking i set the fan to 80% after that I reset the card value to
its default value, but due to some reason my fan was not reset to its default condition which is auto control.
After reseting the card i started palying NFS MW and when I check the temp by GPU-Z, my gpu highest temp was 84C.
Usually my gpu never reached higher than 80C, so is gpu life gets affect or my card get hamperd by reaching such a high temperature for once.

Pls let me know and also let me know that what is the safe temprature that a gpu can work under.

Thx.

More about temperature
  1. its fine. cutoff for GPU is around 100C, nvidia limit is said to be 147 shutoff.

I took an old 8600GTS to 113 C, and it lived fine without any scars.
  2. Safe Temps for a GPU like that would be about 90'C. Life shouldnt have been shortened.
IF you want to go for a serious GPU OC I would look at aftermarket cooling...

    Good luck:D
