Before I continue I will just briefly describe the specs of my PC.
KN9 Ultra Motherboard (comes with 6 SATA , 1 IDE ports)
Hitachi Hard disc (SATA)
LG GBC-H20L Blu-Ray drive (SATA)
LG GGC-4522B DVD drive (IDE)
While trying to play DVDs with the blu-ray drive, a (rather serious) problem occurred immediately. After inserting the disc into the drive, both the LED on the drive and the hard disc indicator blinks as per normal. Usually at this point in time I would expect PowerDVD to open automatically and plays the movie . But in case of my PC, it is not.
As mentioned, both the lights on the PC and drive will be lighted up, but strangely, the hard disc indicator will remain soild throughout while the LED on the drive simply flashes, and dies out. wait for another 1-2 mins the LED on the drive will come back on but will again dies out after 3-4 flashes and the cycle continues till the system ultimately stops responding. The only way to solve this is my restarting the system.
I tried ctrl+alt while the hard disc indicator lights lights up to close the program which the PC is trying to open, but the light remained on.
I discovered that the above mentioned problem only occurred when opening DVD, playing CDs and Blu-ray are fine.
It is also strange that the IDE drive is COMPLETELY UNAFFECTED, it plays normally.
Currently I'm setting all my drive to master. But the problem is still there.
My question is is there a conflict with my IDE and SATA devices? If there is is it advisable for me to clear the CMOS or there are other solutions?
