I have an i7 920 on an EVGA X58 mobo and its hitting upwards of 70c idle, I've reseated the heatsink multiple times and I can't figure it out to save my life. I know this isn't normal and I'm looking for any suggestions I can get. The case has a 2 200mm, 1 120mm, and 1 320mm fans sooooo yeah..sitting here typing this it is running at 67c.

what cooler are you using? the stock one? i had to use my stock cooler for acouple of days while i waited for my waterblock and it ran at 39 idle and high 50's at load. i cleaned the thermo paste that came on the cooler and used new one. also make sure the pin click into place correctly, one of mine came off and my tempc went throug the roof!!

iv maxed mine out between 70-74 normal operating for hours on end playing games recoding multitasking ect so far iv seen no problems. the temps will go down though, just use very little thermal paste little is better. me i just gotta resink my cpu coller but iv been lazy to do so. not because i got the money to blow, but just because i hav'nt found the time to do it. but so far from what i can tell 4months and going it has'nt caused a single error. but i definatly would look at reseating the heatsink with less thermal, for future life
