hi I am interested in overclocking my cpu. I have a P5N EMHDMI BOARD ,E5200 CPU AND RUNNING 4GIG OF RAM ON A WINDOWS 7 O/S.I would like to bump it up to 3..0 or a little more.I would appreciate any help. thanks
That shouldn't be too much trouble Read thru this guide.
Make sure you have a good CPU Cooler.
The Nvidia boards are not the best for overclocking but you should be able to get 3.0ghz.
Make sure that your FSB:RAM ratio is at 1:1 before you start. Otherwise you will be overclocking your RAM and that will limit your CPU overclock.
The nVidia motherboards generally are not good overclockers, but the E5200 is a special case. It has a relatively low FSB freq (200 MHz) which will let you push it a lot before your motherboard gives up. And the high internal multiplier (12.5) will get you a big increase in core speed for a relatively small increase in FSB.
Here are three under $50 heatsinks that are pretty popular:
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus
Xigmatec Dark Knight
They all require a somewhat different approach to applying thermal compound.
Suggestions for applying thermal compound:
And they are pretty large, so they might not fit inside your case.
