Hi

I've just bought a serial to ethernet converter as I want to use a serial modem connected to a phoneline that cannot be moved, due to the phone line. The application it to run on a server thats at the other end of the building however I cannot get it to work, is it possible? I've done the following set the device up as TCP server with a static IP and connected it to the network, with the other end connected to a 9pin serial cable which goes to a 25pin connector into a Hayes 56.6k modem, then on the server ran the Virtual Com port software using COM 3 as the virtual port, I've then assigned the IP of the serial converter to the com port, this connects fine, I then added the modem manually and pointed it to VP COM port 2, if I create a test connection to my home number it rings then goes to my VM, however when I try a free dialup service it dialsup gives you that lovely screech then sticks at the point where it tries to verify username and password.

Also when I try to use our software application it again dials out no problem and again I get the screeches but it justs sits there before the session times out saying no ACK recived in the time specified.

I'm so close to getting this working if anyone has any ideas that would be great!

Cheers

Mark
