I have HP mini, and got the Windows issue..is the HD gone?

I tried the F10 option, no joy. I'm not overally technically savvy but can follow directions. Any suggestions as to what I can try, before I bring it up to PC World for their diagnostics

you never said what the problem was
However if the computer will not boot up, try the repair install, that does not erase your personal files.
