I have had a radeon 4870 for quite a while and have been eyeing the **** out of an x2 model once I could get one for about $400, but I think I might not be running enough resolution to need it and if so what to do for faster better? I have an e8400 oc'd to 3.6 w 4 gigs corsair xms and vista 64 bit ultimate.

Not really sure what you're asking here, but a single 4870 is sufficient for gaming at that resolution (even a 4850 does the job). But you can go up to the 1900 mark safely with a single 4870 I believe. You'd only need an X2 of the 4870 if you're planning on playing above 1900, IMO.

I've done a bit of playing around with my 4870 Crossfire (similar enough to the 4870X2 for this purpose) and the second card only really helps at 1920x1080 or higher. At 1600x1200 the second card had little effect.

so what would be my next upgrade in video then considering the resolution and the rest of the pc? Or is the 4870 still IT for now???
