Invalid boot ini recovery mode will not open

Hello,
trying to reboot XP from CD. I get the "press any key to start CD" but then it stops and screen stays blank.... cannot get to the "welcome to set up" screen and unable to type any info into computer. ANyone have any ideas?

Just to be clear, your keyboard is working, right? Not being able to boot from the CD can be a hardware error such as memory or CD drive, or it could be a bad CD. Does the CD boot in another computer?

THanks for responding - I really appreciate the help...... the keyboard and mouse are not working. The CD does boot in another computer.

If they are PS2 then the MB might be bad. Try a USB keyboard.

Perhaps the BIOS is not set to allow USB keyboard at boot. You can try connecting a PS2 keyboard so you can get into the BIOS and enable USB keyboard emulation.
