get the phenom II 920 am3 socket or am2+ for $199 if u wanna run it on ur present mobo or get a gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P for $140 and spend the rest on the ram it should be less than $340

If your current board can run the phenom II there really isnt a good reason IMO to make the switch to Intel. Your interested in the q6600 so I assume you want or need a quad core. Hopefully you need one and just dont want one just cause.

The only reason to buy ddr3 ram right now IMO is for a Intel i7 system simple because you have no choice in the matter. For a core2 system ddr3 is a waste of money. Even for the AMD route the AM3 cpus which are nice by the way, dont need ddr3 memory or a ddr3 board. They will run in a AM2+ board with a BIOS update.

So if your current board can run the new AMD cpus that is your best bet. You will not anything new but the cpu.

If you switch to Intel you need a new board and cpu.

Lastly you do not need or is it worth to run either system with ddr3 ram at this point in time. The prices have come down but it still not worth it.

i thought bout q6600 buh' as the prices have came down i can buy a bit higher model.
My board cant run any new possessor,it can only run Duo core..NOT EVEN CORE 2 n that to from AMD.

with the budget i have i think i should go for "Q9400 and EP45 UD3R",so far as i've liked it...
is there any other possessor worth buying in this much budget,or shall i go with my earlier choice 'Q6600',le' me know ASAP.

With your budget you should seriously consider AMD. Intel may be better at the high end (Ci7), but AMD and the Phenom II are great processors. Both the 920 and 940 are equal to or better than the Q9400.

And don't worry about DDR3 as performance gains are minimal.
