I just upgraded my system with a new ep45-ud3p and intel E8400 CPU. I am reusing power supply, memory (Ultra DDR2 1GB *2), HDs and Asus video card.
When I put it all together, I press the power button and the board gets power for a second (The LEDs on the mother board light and the CPU fan turns a couple of times) and then everything dies.
Is the MBoard/CPU dead? Is this indicative of a dumb hook up on my part?
I pulled memory and had some success when I put one DIMM in, it went all the way to booting windows. When I shut it down to add USB accessories(e.g. keyboard & mouse), and it went back to same behavior. I bought new memory and had same behavior.
Pulled everything on the mobo except CPU and PSU hook ups and got same behavior.
My PSU is an Antec HE430 (430 watts) and was working fine last week.
I will see if I can get a different PSU to confirm it is not the PSU.
The problem was the PSU and the memory. I replaced the PSU and the setup started booting. But it kept hanging. I removed ULTRA DDR2 (ULT31696) 2 1GB DIMMs. Add then every thing boot up with no hanging. My other memory is certified for the board (PNY Optima DDR2 PC2-5300 2x 1GB).
