Having just moved house I have a dish on my roof already (complete with
LNB), left over from the previous occupants. However, they have taken away
the accompanying decoder. In not wanting to waste the dish (and in wanting
more channels), I have gone to purchase a decoder.
Initially I couldn't get it to work - as I was using the settings found on
the LyngSat site. Well I assumed them to be the settings anyway. For
example, http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/cbsat.shtml , which I believe to be
the satellite feeding my dish, shows a SR of 41530. Signal rate I assume? In
my box I entered this number - and it found nothing. I also entered figures
around the 12440 V mark (V for vertical I assume?) - and the box also found
nothing.
I have now got it to work, by asking the person at the shop who told me to
enter an SR of 20000. I didn't need to enter anything else. What I don't
understand is why my box now works.
Also, the channels I am picking up, while largely matching the list on the
site above (for Sinosat 110.5E) - don't match entirely.

Give them the update.
They DO rely on others for information.
Satellites and the companies that run them change all the time.

How come I cant get rid of the PPV movie channels and others from my user 1
giude...even when I go in preferences and cancel them from my user guide.
I dont use them and many others and cant seem to eliminate them from the guide
list. Is this to tempt you to look at the channels or am I doing it wrong ?

Considering that you posted this as a reply to a completely different
thread, my money's on you doing something wrong (My apologies for
perpetuating the error.)
How about some specifics? What brand of receiver are you using? How
exactly did you attempt to remove these channels?
