Hello, friends. Well, last night I royally screwed up and shorted my motherboard (though, to be fair, I wasn't entirely my fault, but that doens't matter, now does it...). I am wondering what are that chances that I killed the CPU, video card, RAM, and/or optical/harddrive? I should be able to test most of those components in my current rig, but is there any way to check if my CPU is still alive before the replacement motherboard arrives?

If all other components are fine, then the CPU probably is. You need a compatible motherboard to test a CPU.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to confirm that the GPU works, so I feel a hellva lot more relieved.
