Configuration :

STUDIO - XPS 440 (San Marino CR + PR) with Intel Core i7 Processor
Graphics : 512 MB ATI Radeon 4850 Card (FULL HD HDTV Analog – 1080i, HDTV Digital –1080p)
LCD TV - 40inch 1920 x 1080 LCD TV (Model Number: Samsung LE40F86BDX)
Operating System - Vista Home Premium
Memory - 8192MB (4X1024,2X2048) 1067MHZ

Graphics card does indeed support FULL HD display on a 40inch 1920 x 1080 LCD TV (Model Number: Samsung LE40F86BDX) but when the screen is displayed in FULL HD mode the desktop icons, taskbar and general display is tiny and unreadable.
Also web pages are displayed incorrectly with font re-flow issues and graphics distorted and/or very small.
The machine is perfectly viewable at the resolution 1024 x 768 but is of no good when viewing HD video or Blu-ray.

- Please advise...

please be sure to use catalyst control center's HDTV SUPPORT option. since those distortion are most like refresh rate related.

go to CCC > DIGITAL PANEL > HDTV SUPPORT.

i have a friend who happens to have a 4870 connected to a sony bravia. tinkering with this option helped his case which is similar to yours.

Thanks wh3resmyca, for the solutions..

In this case, the machine is perfectly viewable at the resolution 1024 x 768 but this is of no use when viewing HD video or Blu-ray. Distortion occurs only when set to Full HD 1920 x 1080 ..

Will try the solution you suggested & update you further.
