What are the best onboard graphics solutions from ATI & Nvidia currently?

You didnt mention Intel. Guessing Intel G45, AMD 780a and ATI 690G.

790GX would be about the best(that I know for certain), and leaves you with some nice options.

I have heard good things about the newest Geforce boards:

790GX has no onboard graphics. Or at least the board you have linked doesn't. The second 790GX link has onboard.

No onboard here (first link) GIGABYTE GA-E7AUM-DS2H LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 9400 HDMI Micro ATX. The 790GX you linked has onboard video.

Yeah the Gigabyte GeForce 9400 I linked says no onboard video... odd because it's a 9400 chipset and you can clearly see the DVI socket on the MB.

It's just a newegg misprint.

Onboard graphics solutions are associated with the chipset. My best guess as to which chipsets offer the 'best' solution. Intel G45, AMD 790GX and ATI 690 are the top of the respective line onboard graphics solutions currently.
