PC= Personal computer
components usually refers to hardware, thats the case , processor[cpu], RAM [memory], GPU or video card, HDD which is the hard drive, PSU is the power and then external hardware like the keyboard,mouse and monitor.
Software is the operating system [OS]
You should look at webopedia.com first and get some definitions and a little understanding of things; but to try and answer your question the 'hardware' plugs, snaps and fits together so the system can be powered up, set up and the OS installed.
There is also firmware but to keep is easy and give you something to look up I omited that :)
 
This is a good start. However, I think you may want to look at some diagrams of motherboards, as they have pictures. They can point out the various plugs on the board and tell you what plugs in there.
