Biostar TA770 A2+ w/ Marrvell 88E8056 Will not detect Ethernet cord being attach

My computer is acting up again I have a Biostar TA770 A2+ MoBo with an onboard Marvell 88E8056 LAN ethernet port I tried hooking up to a friends* home network through his Linksys router (* he is hosting off Windows Vista HP 32bit, the same OS I am using) and my computer cannot even acknowledge that I have plugged in the ethernet cable. I have run the diagnostic tools and am currently downloading drivers for the MoBo and Vista HP using a 3rd Party utility to try iunstalling on my computer to fix the issue... Any insight will help thanks!

Also I have internet acces through his computer and must download drivers on to his computer write them to a disk and trnafser the files to my "offline" computer.
