what about a 650 power supply?

You can easily get by with a good 500w PSU with at least 32amps on the 12v rails for that setup.

A single 4870 video card uses 152 watts and 13 amps at full load.

Two 4870 video cards in CrossFire mode use 295 watts and 25 amps at full load.

Here is a link to a power supply calculator:

Just fill in as many of the blanks as possible. The result will be for the entire system. Please bear in mind that the wattage will be overestimated because there are a lot of low quality power supplies that uninformed consumers insist on buying. As jaguarskx pointed out, an excellent high quality, stable, reliable 500 watt psu with adequate amperage is sufficient for your system.

I generally recommend PSU sold by Seasonic, Corsair (HX and TX series), and PC Power & Cooling.

Basically Seasonic manufacturers those PSUs (especially those sold under its own brand name).
