Is a countdown timer shutdown box always BAD???

So I received the shutdown box countdown (sasser, rpc??). Don't remember the exact text but it did mention something about avast, or mentioned a filename with avast in it.

Also, it seems undetectable with my Malwarebytes and Avast, both current updates.
So is the countdown timer always indicative of virus/malware? Can it be a simply a system glitch?

Countdown timer is usually from the windows shutdown command, is that what you saw? Need to get the exact message posted. Could have been an update that was done that needed a reboot, or someone send a shutdown command to your system remotely, can't know withoug the exact message.

If you suspect you may have a virus, it's a good idea to run a scan with a couple of programs. Download the recovery boot CD from Avira, run the scan with that and see what happens.

If its what I think it is its called the blaster virus from back in the day. Not to fear though a quick Google search brought me here:

Symantec has a removal tool for it and you will need to download a patch from Microsoft to make sure it never happens again.
