I am going to buy the Intel X25-M 160 GB SSD, and I want to clone my single boot partition onto the SSD using Acronis Home Edition.(79GB) I am transferring Windows 7 Home Premium x64 from my 640 GB WD Caviar Black, will there be any alignment issues with my plan?

don't clone your used Windows; re-install cleanly.
That way you avoid any alignment issues and will start fresh, without any junk in the windows directory accumulated over time.
Also consider reserving more space (140GiB partition on 149GiB device; for example) - that will enhance performance a bit - even with TRIM.
