I have seen alot of benchmarks of e8500 and quads , but haven't actually found out which is better for gaming and other activities on my pc. Is there a better cpu for gaming than the e8500 at the price range?

Not really. Dual cores are still very good for gaming. However, if you use any programs other than games that will make efficient use of a quad, Id say buy one.

No problem. I do have both. If you look at my systems, I have an E8400 and a Q9650. Gaming they seem about the same honestly in spite of the system differences. However for anything really CPU intensive like messing with recoding, extracting, ripping, anything that makes use of the 3rd and 4th cores, the Q9650 is rocking.
